The Lovers Hike

The Lovers Soundwalk is an immersive audio journey through the hidden paths of the Potamia valley, following the secret romance between Anoussa Kokkos and Giabatis Barrozzi in the late 17th century. Also known as the ‘Romeo and Juliet of Naxos’, these two came from the warring Kokkos and Barozzi families, locked in a fierce and bloody feud. As listeners walk through real historical sites, the haunting voice of Anoussa guides them through her memories—of forbidden love, danger and the courage to seek out her own path to love. Blending natural sound and local myths, the experience brings the landscape to life with every step, allowing visitors to feel what it means to love and rebel in a land steeped in tradition and conflict.

Difficulty: Medium, with one steep ascent from Ano Potamia to the path alongside Apano Kastro (ca. 300m elevation); the path runs along official hiking path No. 4

Duration: 120 min
