In the village of Damalas, there is the traditional pottery workshop and shop of Manolis Lybertas. Manolis’ ancestors settled in Naxos around 1880 and come from Sifnos, which during the 19th century had the most potters in the Cyclades and was an important center of this profession and its art. Over the years, from generation to generation, the art had now become established in the family, resulting in the continuation of this shop and since 1990 it has existed in its current location. The traditional pottery workshop creates handmade objects for both practical and decorative use. Visitors have the opportunity to experience the art of ceramics up close, watching the manufacturing process and discovering the techniques that have remained unchanged over time. Finally, anyone interested can learn the history of pottery and its evolution over the years, as well as purchase some of his creations.
